Moving On Up: The Guitar Rescue Is Relocating In April 2023

In the winter of 2012, we embarked upon a journey and opened our first retail shop at 203 Farnsworth Avenue in Bordentown, NJ. At first the hardships were real, and the struggles were never-ending. But with some tenacity and a sufficient amount of creativity, the business was able to grow resulting in a budding guitar repair business thanks to an equally dedicated & much appreciated client base.

Later in 2016, the need for a larger space to accommodate a now multi-faceted music shop was ever present, and after some hesitation Bordentown Guitar Rescue was moving into its second home (then at 123 Farnsworth Avenue). A mere two blocks away from the first location, the new building added a level of professionalism to match the exploding growth of not only the repair business but also the lessons and retail portion of our industry.

No one really anticipated what came in the spring of 2020. COVID-19 was an eye-opening and door-closing period of change for many small business owners. Faced with a changing retail climate and the need to consolidate to the bare minimum to simply thrive, the business moved out of Bordentown after 8 years of residency to settle into an industrial complex in Hamilton, NJ. During this time the shop dropped it’s locality from the business name and simply became “The Guitar Rescue”. This 3rd location was quite different from the previous spots but has served as the base of operations for a business that refused to give-up.

Desiring to offer a more fine-tuned environment for our ever-growing customer base & changing business model, the Guitar Rescue will once again re-locate - but this time to a facility that better matches our new needs.

The new location (1960 Brunswick Ave, Lawrence NJ 08648) is a revitalized medical suite merely 1.1 miles away from our current location (directly off Business Route 1), and will offer a secure, climate-controlled environment for our customers & their instruments. This 1400+ square foot professional unit hosts a series of dedicated spaces for not only instrument storage and repairs, but also rooms designed for curated customer consults & demos as well as medical-level inspections & service.

Our newly expanded staff is comprised of a team of carefully chosen employees that together will make the entire Guitar Rescue model a more stream-lined, customer-focused experience than ever before. The shop will also feature expanded hours of operation and on-site services (such as a greater selection of in-hand parts & accessories) as well as the re-introduction of buying and selling gear thanks to a recent merger with Mill Run Music.

The new space will also provide a safe and secure area for customers to conduct their own private trades and sales of gear. Our lobby will provide a safe-space to meet-up with local buyers/sellers of gear to ensure that private transactions can be conducted with some degree of security.

Our shop-space partners at the Amp Shop will remain at their current location. We’ve done business side-to-side for over 6 years, and we wish them all the continued success that we’ve witnessed together. Any amplifier repair requests will be redirected to them as we have always done in the past.

In closing, we’d like to acknowledge that the relationship with our customers is paramount to our business’s viability. Recently, lead times for some repairs have exceeded our normal threshold of acceptability, and the last thing we ever want to do is disappointment our clientele. All of the things mentioned earlier in this message are measures to ensure that the shop gets back on-track and continues to offer everyone the same expedient & expert handling that the Guitar Rescue has been known to deliver.

This is a time of new beginnings for us all, and now more than ever we are excited to share this vision with you and bring you along for this journey that has endured for over 10 years now. Thank you for your dedication and continue patronage throughout the years, and we only hope that we will see you at the new facility this spring as we continue to repair the art of guitar repair…

One string at a time!
