Frequently Asked Questions

Why Choose The Guitar Rescue?

Independently owned and operated from day one.

Since day one, The Guitar Rescue has been run solely by me (Michael Virok). No one else works on your gear once it’s dropped off in my building.

In business for over 10 years.

Yes, the shop has existed on it’s own for 10 years. I first opened the doors to my own business in 2012, and had already been a practicing professional luthier for 5 years before that. Simply put: I have the experience and I know what I’m doing.

This isn’t a side gig: this is my only gig.

My business is not a side hustle. I depend on my shop to support my family, and I rely on the dedication of my customer base to keep the business running strong for years to come. You can rest assured that during my business hours I am working on nothing but customer instruments - that’s all I do.

I won’t sell you something you don’t need.

Whether it be a part or a service, I’ve built a reputation for being as honest a person as you can find. If I can’t do something, I’ll tell you straight to your face. If your guitar doesn’t need something, I will not just go ahead and do it for the sake of making a quick buck. I will not tell you that some brand name part is superior and “must be on your guitar” just because it’s a more expensive product. The bottom line: I will not cheat you.

I don’t work out of my home.

Since opening the doors to my first location may years back, I learned the value of having dedicated studio for repair work. I don’t work out of my basement or the living room of my house or apartment. My benches reside in a retail work environment that is dedicated to being only that: a work environment. Rest assured that your instruments are not being “jammed on” or being used for a dining room table while in my care.

If you’re still on the fence about visiting my shop, please feel free to reach out and call or email for more information. Everyone has their own particular needs and while I’d like to be everyone’s “guy”, I completely understand if you choose not to do business with me. But if you do want to get in touch, I’m a quick message away.
