Frequently Asked Questions

Why Choose The Guitar Rescue?

Independently owned and operated from day one.

Since day one, The Guitar Rescue has been run solely by me (Michael Virok). No one else works on your gear once it’s dropped off in our building. All luthier serves or repair needs are performed by one person.

Our staff is second to none.

Wether you are here for services or to buy/sell/trade, our team of customer service representatives is well trained and ready to answer your needs upon drop-off and pick-up. Everyone on-site is specialized to deal with specific aspects of our business & our customers' needs. The janitor will never be the one selling you a guitar.

In business for over 10 years.

Yes, the shop has existed on it’s own for 10 years. The first shop opened the doors for business in 2012, and Mike had already been a practicing professional luthier for 5 years before that. Simply put: we have the experience and I know what we are doing.

This isn’t a side gig: this is my only gig.

Our business is not a side hustle. We depend on our shop to support our families, and we rely on the dedication of our customer base to keep the business running strong for years to come. You can rest assured that during business hours we are working on nothing but customer instruments - that’s all we do.

We won’t sell you something you don’t need.

Whether it be a part or a service, we’ve built a reputation for being as honest a people as you can find. If we can’t do something, we’ll tell you straight to your face. If your guitar doesn’t need something, we will not just go ahead and do it for the sake of making a quick buck. We will not tell you that some brand name part is superior and “must be on your guitar” just because it’s a more expensive product. The bottom line: You will not be cheated or taken advantage of.

We don’t work out of a home.

Since opening the doors of the first location many years back, we learned the value of having a dedicated studio for repair work. We don’t work out of a basement or the living room of a house or apartment. The repair bench resides in a commercial work environment that is dedicated to being only that: a work environment. Rest assured that your instruments are not being “jammed on” or being used for a dining room table while in our care.

If you’re still on the fence about visiting the shop, please feel free to reach out and call or email for more information. Everyone has their own particular needs and while we’d like to be everyone’s “guy”, we completely understand if you choose not to do business with us. But if you do want to get in touch, we are a quick message away.
